Ahh so my G. Pulchra molted last night, this morning I retrieved her molt and taxidermied it. Going into this I already knew I would get urticating hairs in my hands as I can’t wear gloves since I’m allergic to latex and when stuffing and gluing it can get messy. Anyway the hairs were falling off her molt during this process and managed to get into my neck and my hands. My neck is just itchy but my hands are itchy, burning and sore. Does anyone know what I should do or how to treat it? Thank youuuu

Good show in your avatar.

Use packaging tape to try and pull them out.

When you've just been haired, using tape can help remove some of them. Once burrowed into your skin though they are hard to remove since they're barbed and it would be like trying to pull an arrowhead out of you. Antihistamines and/or hydrocortisone creams can help relieve the itchiness. Both can be bought over the counter, just make sure you can safely take them (not allergic to any active ingredients, no heart conditions, no interactions with other meds, etc etc you get it).

Can also recommend you get some nitrile gloves in the future, those are latex free. Double glove since (some types of) hairs can penetrate a single layer.

Another alternative, vinyl gloves. They don't stretch well so make sure to get them in the correct size. Gf keeps some around for cooking so I just grab a couple as needed

There are other gloves besides those made from latex you can use for the future.

I sure hope you did not rub your face or anywhere near your eyes.

I take allergy pills and always wear gloves around Ts with hairs. As others already said use tape. Long sleeves help if they are hair proof.
Last time I got haired I broke my always wearing glove rule. :hurting:

These are available at any auto parts stores.
Latex free and powder free. They come in smaller amounts( 6 pair) and up,
They fit tight and are good for messing around your hair kickers.I use them for any T even Theraphosa. image.jpg
