I am always amused by the construction/de-construction ability of tarantulas. My Avicularia avicularia (pinktoe) hauled a clump of moss as big as she is up 12" from the floor of its enclosure, plugged its entrance and then began to line its web with moss. The enclosure bottom is a thin layer of shredded coconut husk and a generous layer of sphagnum moss on top, now there is a big bare patch of coconut.

Don't you just love it when they build! My avics are so weird like that - mine tore its web down this week....I'm thinking why? You took so long to build it! It's so cute how yours dragged all that moss/dirt up there to make a nice soft bed. I wish I could catch them doing these things but it's always during the night.

It may be premolt, it ate last Sunday so I will see tomorrow how it acts. The web used to be all horizontal with a front and back door then last week it tore open the bottom and has been building that lower tube, now its stupped full of moss.
