Didn't think my first mature male wouldn't be a tarantula but here we are. What a bittersweet moment but in a strange way I feel quite proud.

I don't have another of his kind to breed him with which feels a real shame - I don't even know of anyone who keeps them. But here he is in all of his red bottomed glory... And my terrible camera skills. I may bother him later for some good photos.

It is a bittersweet moment. At least mature male velvet spiders are beautiful as adults. Btw there not tarantulas

Yeah I know haha, I've just worded it in a very awkward way.

He is absolutely stunning. Going to give him a while to harden up and then see if he's interested in a meal. We'll see, though my hopes aren't high.

Offer some mealworm soup if he's hungry. Here's the recipe: grab a mealworm, cut off the head, squeeze out the ooey goodness inside and boom! A tasty treat that he can enjoy while his fangs harden up.

Your velvet spider is gorgeous. I hope to adopt one of my own someday. I watch Tarantula Kat on YouTube and she has a female that laid eggs. You can contact her to possibly adopt a female or get the info for the breeder she gets her spiders from.

Little man may get some soup as a well done for becoming a beautiful young guy.

Unfortunately I'm in the UK but I'm asking around friends to see if anyone would like him.

I hope you find someone. Are you looking to breed him or rehome him? Where did you get him from? I would love to adopt a velvet someday.

Me too, but actually he's looking pretty interested in eating and my whole thing about rehoming him was about his stress and wellbeing if he was starting to wander a lot looking for a female.

I actually have what I suspect to be a female but she's definitely not mature and is also his sister haha.

I got them from the Spider Shop. They've got absolutely loads of the species available in the hobby.

There's a few shops in the UK that sell different erasus spiders. Have you thought seeing if you can obtain a female to breed him yourself? Good luck to you and your spider. Hope you find him a mate soon 🥰
