First Latrodectus!

I’ve kept my eyes peeled for a long time for a Latrodectus and I finally found one yesterday! It was hiding in the handle of a shovel I was about to use. Looking forward to watching it!

Very pretty. Did you see the hourglass shape or have photo of it?

Makes sense as I found it in east Texas. I saw a map that shows hesperus in Texas too but the articles I’ve read only mention mactans in Texas.
Texas has all three black species supposedly. Hesperus occurs in western Texas. Variolus is pretty rare I guess.
