First breeding project in the works

Received the MM A. metallica this morning and named him Bubbles. Starting tonight or tomorrow i'm starting to load up the Female "Lars" with crickets and mealies. Hope it all goes smoothly. I have the two enclosures set next to eachother so they can trade pheromones.

This is not in breeding reports because there has not been any breeding yet therefore there is nothing to report. I can move it there if needed though.

He is a stud. Steve told me he mixed Viagra and steroids in his diet.

The first thing I thought when I saw this thread was, 'Oh my god someone who lives near me is breeding!' So I'm pretty stoked about your project for selfish reasons. Best of luck with everything and don't forget the mood lighting. Looking forward to your updates!

So I may have goofed. A ~4-4.5 inch female A.metallica is breed-able? She just molted last Tuesday (10 days) I thought after this most recent molt she would be big enough to mate but maybe I was wrong. oops

It goes by how sclerotised the spermatheca are, but general rule of thumb is 75% of average adult size for females of that species. I think for A. metallica it would be at least 5", females can reach 8"
Not sure others will chime in. can you post a clear pic of spermatheca from last molt?

I can try, It was sort-of mangled up.

edit: I gave that exuvia along with others to my english teacher for her to look at. Going to ask if she still has them.
I was told the biggest they got was 6.5 inches or a little more.

quick update. What used to be A. metallica is now just a mystery Avic, wish I would have found out before we got the MM.

Don't know if anyone still watches this thread or not. Since My now suspect metallica is un-breedable. I will be buying a subadult female A. metallica for breeding with @Austin S. MM that he very kindly sold , Thanks again. I will ensure your MM does not go to waste.
