Fell apart

My C. crawshayii male matured in November 2009. Lately he's been staying in his burrow and not coming out - I can see him through a "window" against the glass. I've been dreading and waiting for the terrible smell of a dead T that I have read about.

Anyway, yesterday, I decided to just put the forceps down and see what he would do. He hadn't moved in a long time - but there was no smell.

When I touched him with the forceps, he fell apart in a pile of pieces.

Not my finest hour......

sorry for the loss, but that reminds of a movie quote.

"how did he die?"

"his head fell off!"

I'm sure this is how my p. muticus will die as well. He just goes down there with no food or water for months without any disturbance on the surface.

I haven't sexed mine. It's just 1.5" or so... I think it'll be years before I have to worry about which sex it is so I just call it a he.
