feeding

whan i feed centipedes, i throw mouse on the centipedes so they can notice prey easily..
or i push them into the prey to see them hunting..
i wonder what the other people doing..
is there anybody who has unique way to feed centipedes?
any comments welcomed..

I have had very good luck with the "throw the prey item on top of the pede" method... it seems to provoke more of a feeding response than say just hoping the pede finds the prey item in the enclosure. I would strongly recommend AGAINST ever pushing the pede into the prey item, as you say you do... it will only piss off the pede and stress it out. A stressed out pede won't eat as well, and could injure itself attacking the hook or whatever you're using to push it around. Also, when it scrambles to get away from the Evil Giant Hook, it could injure itself by banging around the enclosure or trying to climb too fast and falling. Feel free to puch the PREY around, but pushing around the pede is not a good idea.

i thought i was so selfish just because i want to see them hunting..
i guess i need endureance to be with centipedes..

Nothing wrong with wanting to see them "hunt" ... just poke the PREY not the PEDE and you will be fine :)
