Aphonopelma chalcodes and Grammostola pulchripes are slow growers and can go ages as slings without eating?
I put food in off and on over the couple of weeks and they ignore it. lol at 1cm each I’m not going to to be able to do much except watch and wait. Could they just be picky eaters? I read that most slings inhale food so they aren’t so tiny for long

Yes and they don’t eat for a long time

Depending on the size of your feeder, if its too big cut the food into smaller pieces for slings

I can only speak for g pulchripes, with my feeding experiences.

i have three slings. Purchased at around 1/3inch. They were in dram vials.

i got these tiny cubes to put them in. I didnt want them to bury themselves deep.

they never buried away. They molted atleast three times in less then a year. They got to a lovely hair/color stage.

its been winter for a while. Although they are fat, they could still eat if i were to put a prekilled.

i am not feeding them because they are fat. And its winter. As spring arrives, and the inside of my house changes, i will adapt. I do provide a piece of food maybe one a month. Only because they are fat, and I am evaluating the situation.

First picture is now. Second picture is last year.

they molted during peaks of high heat and humidity. Because thats what it was like indoors. Outdoors was far worse. I barely used a/c for money reasons.

Yes x 2

Not all species inhale food, your source/s is either stupid or ignorant

That chalcodes might be a juvi by the time you die depending on a few variables 😂

Housing plays a huge role in a terrestrial slings appetite and growth.

Both of these species have a tendency to be good eaters as slings....pulchripes grow much faster at small sizes but slow way down by 2-2.5".
