if you truly don't like the show, ranting about it here solves nothing. if you want to make a change in the show, email and send them letters (preferrable IMO) (to both the studio that airs the show, and the network that broadcasts it) AND stop watching. As long as there are people watching the show they will keep doing whatever they need to to make money. If enough people make it clear that they no longer watch due to the animal cruelty eventually it's going to stop on this show as all they care about are their ratings. hurt the ratings and there's a chance it will stop.

Dissecting a preserved animal for the purpose of education is quite a bit different from throwing live animals in a blender for the purpose of entertainment. I've dissected animals myself, I have no issue with it, my boss has even dissected his own pet guinea pigs to try to find out how they died. Animals being dissected are at least contributing something, hopefully even giving people a greater appreciation for them. The scorpions dying on Fear Factor are dying in vain purely for shock value.

Oh, they weren't preserved. We had to kill them. A bunch of twelve year olds.

I have kind of a hard time believing that. Where did you live?

Anyways...about fear factor.

They're simply going for what Americans think of as shock value. It's a badly done show. There have been PEOPLE who have suffered lasting damage from the show and gotten little to no reimbursement. In the recent years, ratings have fallen.

It's time to wake up and face the fact that the general public doesn't care about bugs. They just don't. PETA may do a lobster protest every once and awhile, but only to cover any accusation of hypocrisy in this department.

No matter how many emails you send and no matter how many of the 5000+ folks on the board don't watch the show and boycott the products that are advertised, they aren't going to change. Too many other people like to watch their fellow humans exploited and I doubt we could make their ratings drop by 100,000. It's like Mori said, they only care about the bank account.

Just give it time and the show will be off the air.

Fear factor has been cancelled unless my info is completely wrong. My Aunt knows the executive producers... and I have voiced the opinion that it is very offensive to put the said animals through this. PS I though emps were having some serious issues in the wild due to collecting to much. Whats their status with CITES?

Probably, I've known they were in danger for awhile.

I just have to go on with that depressing speil every time a fear factor thread comes up.

This thread is old, though. Not like saggy balls old, but more like midlife crisis old.

I still live here; West Virginia. The class was part of a program (TREK) for gifted children. Once a week, we'd get bussed out to a former police station for most of the day, returning shortly before the end of the last class. Anyway, we were expected to stick the little lizards in jars with some chloroform. This was eight or nine years ago.

Ah, and I second your opinions on Fear Factor. Isn't it depressing what some people will do for money?

fear factor is on NBC at 8:00 PM Fear Factor EPISODE #617 - REALITY STARS, PART 3 All New

personally I love the show I havnt seen the one with the scorps being ground up. did you see them grind them or were they all ready ground everyone is saying they were live scorps are you sure the ones ground were live? many times in life I find that people tend to jump to ideas that have no evidence. I would eat a scorp. and a T for 50,000$ heck Id eat a Poecilotheria metallica for 50k. but id eat a T anyways if it were cooked for me by someone who knew what they were doing. Oh and Im american (as if that had anything to do with this subject silly american bashers) and Id try anything once.

yeah man, they showed the dead scorp on a plate. this isn't the first time they had contestants eat scorpions (emps). it's pretty nasty though. for a comment placed awhile ago in this thread; it would be seriously retarted for the show to have contestants do anything with a. australis.
