I am working on a senior research project and need to identify this spider as close to species as possible. From the info I have found so far, I have narrowed it down to family (Pholcidae), but can find nothing on how to determine which of the 3 genera it may be. Does anyone know the criteria for determining the genera in this family? Thanks!

Yes, you are right about Pholcidae. Below are keys to two genera. Which is the third you were thinking of?

Thank you so much for the quick reply! Wikipedia listed Pholcus, Spermophora, and Smeringopus as possible genera... I was able to rule out Spermophora, but not sure about Pholcus or Smeringopus??? They seem to have the same criteria for identification?

Sorry, I'm not at all familiar with Smeringopus, but I think there are at least 8 NAm genera of Pholcidae. If you can find this book you will get more help. Please let us know if you find out which genera or species you have found.
