If so what was the best?

I just ate a waxworm.
Hey! Don't look at me like that!
I just wanted to see how it tasted because my dragon seems to go wild for them.

They tasted like nothing, no idea why, I expected sweet. Just very watery slightly oily creamy tasting things.

Crickets taste MUCH better. Try it sometime! :)

LOL!

When I was in 2nd grade (like 20 years ago) I took a survival class and had to eat different bugs. The only thing I remember is that red-colored ants taste sour like lemon. I can't remember if they were actual red ants or just red-colored ants.

I'd go back to school and gross out my friends at recess by picking up ants and eating them. It was awesome.

Yeah! Ants taste lovely! I found in Russia black ones are sour. Oddness! Continental differences! :D

 I've eaten meal worms, they kinda taste like a mix of nuts and chicken. I used to eat worms as a kind, aswell as ants (they tasted like acid/rust in my memory)

I've never eaten bugs on purpose, although I'm sure I've eaten several waxworms in the past few years, considering our house is infested with the darned things, and they like to get into our food. Nothing like finishing up a big plate of rice, only to find a waxworm wiggling on the plate.

hehe After reading this thread, you guy brought a smile on my face. Everyone here had eatten some bugs before, but probabbly Im the only one was fed live/cooked bugs when I was a kid as part of the regular dinner meal. I grew up in Japan, and my grandpap used to collect bee hives and would "force" me to meow on those bee leavns, after so many years, I actaully liked them. I gone back to Japan last summer and had a bunch of them, they are rich in sweetness and memory. For cooked bugs, we used to roast scorpions, Bees, Rhino beetles/leavns, centipedes (I haven't and never will try), and my ALL time favorites Japanese Water Beetles!!! those suckers get to 6 inchs and tasted GOOD!. I used to think that I would totally dominate the tasks in Fear Factor, except the phyical part of the tasks.
I wouldn't mind trying spiders/tarantulas tho.

I ate black ants when I was 3 and still remember that they were spicy, kind of like pepper. I suppose ants would make good seasoning if you didn't have anything else.

Aw you know it was great :)

Ants are tasty! I'm actually contemplating buying some crickets on saturday and chowing down. Waxies are nice but too watery for me.

I've also eaten grain mites and weevil larva. Neither on purpose :p

I used to eat hissing cockroaches and mealworms on a fairly regular basis...

My fairly recent diet restrictions are keeping me away from eating them anymore... :(

What did hissing roaches taste like? They have a certain smell to them that makes me think they wouldn't taste very good.

I've sucked a few escapee fruitflies off my arm. I actually chewed them and tried to see if their was any taste but none discernable. I'd happily eat a teaspoon of them on a bet!

If my memory serves me, they taste pretty much like what you feed them. Just gooey and crunchy, vaguely nutty...

Musta swallowed a couple of flies ;)

But I've eaten an earthworm. It tasted liquorish-ish and earthy. And had a very snotty texture. Not too bad though. Could do it again if I was in a pinch.

Why is it inhuman?

You may not like it but it's huge in many cultures, why not with us? We see bugs aren't icky and therefore aren't all that scared of trying them.

Bugs are very healthy in your diet too! Never to mention tasty ;)
