Sorry to hear that. Good luck in finding it. Remember to have a different cage arrangement to put it in when you find it.

I have had a couple escapees including our male T. blondi. I always find them in about 5-10 minutes. Think like the tarantula. They will find a dark secure place to hold up. And they won't go as far as you might think, I have found all of my escapees within an 8 foot radius of their enclosures. If you have a closet nearby that the T could get into that would be the place to start and very carefully. I would imagine you checked, but are you sure the T didn't build in the enclosure somewhere else?

This idea works well. Look for arboreals within the 'folds' of curtains and terrestrials under/behind shelfs.

Feast on a fuzzy mouse for inspiration and to get the ideas rolling in.

I hope you find your T! It's hard when you lose them, and I've had 3 escapees and only found my adult female A.seemanni was ever found. The other 2 were 1" slings and it's been too long for them to still be running around this central AC house for them. Do look hanging from the undersided of the furnature and listen for noises. "Tuesday" was out 3 days and hadn't made her way out of the room in which she was lost in.

Good Luck

Schultz and Schultz has an excellent section on escapes...they give good instructions on a systematic search.

i had a particularly mean-spirited (;)) sub-adult L.parahybana on the lam over the past 5 weeks. i tried all the little tricks and such (wet towels, etc...) and nothing. Then 3 days ago, tending to my eggsacs (i don't lay eggs, but my Ts do), i saw a scraggly unkempt parahybana near the water bottle, on the verge of death. 3 days later, s/he's back on all 8 legs

So fear not.

even if 5 weeks go by, there's still some hope.

check around though. you'd be pretty surprised to find some of the places they can squeeze into.

good luck!

I had a G. rosea get out last night. I was trying to feed her and left the lid off the cage. An hour later I went back and seen, lol. She spun web when she was going down. At the top of a computer desk, down a 10gal. aquirium, down the desk, go figure. Anyway, 5 hours later, my dad starts cussing. I look, and its all the way across the house by the door. lol. The kitten was trying to play with it (see not so spineless wonders forum, my sister posted pics of the cat "satan").
Anyway, thats about it, I have a 4in. H. gigas that burrows, and a 7in. that dosen't, maybe it wasnt kept right or something.

Well, last night I was just going to go to sleep when I got the inkling to get up out of bed. Perhaps it was the fact my windows were opened and I had to close them. But when I turned my light on I noticed all the way up on my wall towards the ceiling, my little A. avic sling was perched as if she had been there for a very long time. I guess she must have escaped her sling vial. Well I carefully placed her in a more secure sling vial and averted disaster. It's a ucky thing I got up or I would have been missing one little Avic.

I agree I would turn your house upside down looking for her I am sure is probably hiding somewhere. We lost 2 slings (L.parahybana and a A.Moderatum-not the ones we got yesterday) We have vents so we figured they got through them or a animal killed them. But Don't give up still look for it never know it might show up

The only T escape I have ever had was a X. immanis about 12 years ago, found on the back of the TV. Now snake escapes are another story and more frequent than my T escapes.

Haha, I've had similar.

Just got out the shower, sat on my bed drying my hair when suddenly a little spider scuttles accross my toe. To my knowledge, none of my spiderlings were loose, so I checked the vials (it looked like the average non-descript opaque spiderling). Anyway it turned out to be my C.Fimbriatus that I'd bought the day before for £8... Obviously I felt extreme gratitude that it shown up and in a sense almost humble... I knew if it hadn't of touched me, I'd soon have the "oh crap my spider is missing" feeling tearing from me.
