We went through this last year while staying at Lake Barkley and it was awesome. It's a 700 acre fenced preserve with elk and bison that you're able to drive through and take pictures from your vehicle.
The animals aren't shy and it's a good way to get a good up-close viewing. We went in October, so the rut was just beginning and the elk were bugling. It's something my family out in Montana take for granted, as I've never heard it and it's definitely an awesome experience.
