i'm getting a red corn snake over the weekend, it will be my first snake. i was wondering if anyone had any good information or websites i should check out before i get it so i have everything prepared. thanks :)

*psst* I still use the name Elaphe guttata. Pantherophis guttatus just doesn't roll off the tongue as nicely. ;)

very nice! i recently got into snakes as well..but my two corns are still pretty young compared to that one. hows its temperament? one of mine is pretty nervous and likes to bite until you have it out of its tank and in your hand. the other one has never tried to bite me, or anyone ever.

Just move slowly but firmly arround them. Don't jerk with your hands when you go close or if you get bitten. Just stay cool and grab 'em. They'll calm down as they grow up and it helps if you pick them up on a regular basis so that they get used to it and remember you better.

Corns still need a home?

Do you still need a home for your two cornsnakes. If so I am snakeless right now and would love to have them. Let me know.

mine hasn't tried anything weird, there was another one at the shop that tried to bite everything that went near it though!
i wanted to get a smaller one but i didn't want to wait for them to get their babies in so i got the snow corn, they said she was a little over a year old
