Man this was a lot of fun.

Thanks again robc for the help, and for the awsome tutorial thread.

Backdrop is 1/8'' foam board w/ peat substrate glued to it with some brown silicone. Fake plants, cork bark hides/furniture. and I thought I'd get creative and make some vines with the silicone and substrate I had left. just for aesthetics really. I basically just ran several beads of silicone through a pile of moss and covered them completely. let them sit for a couple days and shook off the excess after it cured. turned out nicely, imho.

Tell me what you think!

EDIT: hrm....pics didn't load? gah...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I see a nice gap between the divider and the tank lid. That is how you end up with 1 fat T or 2 dead ones.

Wow, good job. Hope I don't sound condescending, but that looks pretty cool for a first-time DIY dual. What species do you plan on keeping in there?

You made me go on a shopping spree to find ways to make my tarantula's tank look natural and awesome :p I'll take pictures before and after.

the angle of the picture is deceiving. also, the tank lid is one of those that is hinged in the center, so when it is on the tank the piece in the middle comes down over the edge of the divider well enough to close that gap. thanks for the concern though :)

kupo969: not condescending at all. thanks for the compliment. I have to agree, for my first real custom enclosure project I think it turned out wonderfully....way better than I expected.

spiderfield: not sure about what I'm keeping in it yet lol. my girlfriend really wants a T. she wants her first one to be a versi, and I've been wanting one as well, so it might end up with one in each side. or if I don't get my own versi it will be a singapore blue probably....or a pokie....hmmmm

Autumnvicky: glad I've ...inspired(?) you! trust me you'll have tons of fun being creative, and it's pretty rewarding. I can't wait to see how it looks when it actually has Ts inside :)

Thanks again to robc for the awesome tutorial. :)

very nice! you have no idea how happy I am to see that my project has in some way cascaded into another, providing fulfilment in the owner, and better living for the T. that enclosure just improved 100% for sure. great job. :D what species is enjoying it's new home, anyways? look like A. avic but I can't be sure.

Your right! She's my very first T and she is an A. Avic.

I'll have pictures of her in the new tank up soon enough.

That dual enclosure will be awesome when the Ts move in it, I bet they'll love it!

I like that idea for the homemade vines, very clever!

Id prolly leave the stringy moss of it, but the cocofiber would look great.

Could even lay a length of like thin baleing wire and cover it with silicone and coco so it has some strength and bendiness.

Ive never seen or thought of that before, thankyou!!!

:) thank you, sir. much appreciated. the idea with the wire is a great one, and i'm thinking i'll give that a try for sure. i agree that cocofibre would look awesome, but the peat was all I had extra at the time. i'll work on that when i get more :)

I dare say my tarantula hates my guts right now. She dislikes being moved to new containers. Thankfully she's staying in that one for a very long time. I hope she likes her new enclosure, don't know if she can climb the moss wall or not.

Nice vine ideas :) May try those sometime!

Very nice Vicky and Miz.

Vicky, you should keep an eye on that log where it contacts the soil. That may start molding on ya. If it does your best bet would be to replace it with cork bark. Somebody also recently mentioned that they dip the end in paraffin wax, just the bit that touches the soil. I haven't tried that myself but it sounds like it should work fine.

Thanks :)

and the paraffin sounds like a GREAT idea. I thought about doing mold tests in different enclosures with different moisture levels, substrates, furniture, etc. (The enclosures won't have Ts, mind you) I'll definately put that to the test. Thanks!
