So I have a bag of Reptisoil just sitting around. I need to dry it out, and was wondering if I could use an oven like I do for coco fiber? The reason I'm not sure is because the label says it has carbon in it?

Thanks!

I have. Just make a thin layer and cook it low. 250 or so.

Reptisoil can be pretty moist straight out of the bag. I've dried upper layers of it going into a mid size enclosure for a more arid species.

Why are people so adverse to using the sun and wind to dry things out? It's worked fine for millenia and will work when the natural gas runs out

Unless it needs to be baked to sterilize it, I just dry it out in the sunlight on a baking tray.
Leave it outside before work, it's done after work. No cost, no fire risk.

Peeps don’t want to wait, also some don’t have ability to use the sun outdoors

Hot 🥵 sun outside , or oven at 250 as said above but I’m not sure how many minutes depending on how wet it is . It would dry quickly outside here .

I toast whole spices this way, but won’t risk the bugs getting into my spider dirt.
And also, as @viper69 said, impatience.

The is a natural ecosystem balance that sunlight aids in. Sterilizing the uppermost soil and drying out from the top down in a uniform manner from bone dry on the surface to organism rich and moist in the deep layers. So natural environment tends to be self sustaining. But synthetic environs like containments are constantly some degree of a balancing act.
