Been lurking around for a little bit of time and getting a feel for the forum. I'd like to share pictures of my current T's.

This first one is the one that started it off for me. It's a Mexican Red Knee, Brachypelma smithi, that I acquired in 2003. I'm an arachnophobe, and her slow moving actions and 'gentle' nature (she loves to kick hairs) had adapted me enough to really appreciate the beauty of these creatures.

Thanks for looking,

Here's the second T I purchased. Quite a jump, I know, but I'd wanted a Cobalt Blue, Haplopelma lividum, for quite some time (since first seeing one 12+ years ago). Their color is fascinating!

Anyway, purchased this one exactly a year ago this month. It has definitely given me respect for their speed and 'viciousness', but at the same time their beauty.

Thanks for looking!

Can you say hooked?! The past six months I have wanted to expand my collection. Finally bit the bullet last week and contacted BotarBy8's. Man, I couldn't be happier with what I received!! Don't know male/female on any of my T's right now, but that doesn't matter so much as I'm not planning to breed anything. (Bad enough getting over my fear of T's when I have to feed/clean let alone deal with 100+ spiderlings.)

Anyway, on to the pics . . .

First up, Green Bottle Blue, Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens.

Thanks for looking,

Here's the Brazilian White Knee, Acanthoscurria geniculata. It proceeded to dig a burrow within 2 hours of being placed in the 1 gal RM jug I set up for it!

Here's my Costa Rican Tiger Rummp, Cyclosternum fasciatum. I had purchased one of these in 2004, but due to my negligence (forgot to close the cage lid after feeding), it got out never to return. :8o

And here's the Venezuelan Suntiger, Psalmopoeus irminia. Such a simple looking spiderling, yet the beauty when it first crawled out of the paper towel left me speechless!

And last, but not least, the Usumbara Baboon, Pterinochilus murinus. Quite honestly this is the only one that made me truly nervous about their arrival (along with the Pokie), and it didn't let me down. After leaving the papertowel, after giving it 3 or 4 bites, it proceeded to flip onto it's back letting me know it was pissed off!

Well, that order from Botar brought my collection up to 8. I'm looking at possibly getting an Guyana Pinktoe, A. avicularia and Costa Rican Zebra, A. seemani from our wholesaler this week (I work PT for a privately owned pet store in the summer when I'm not teaching). Down the road I'll definitely be ordering a Red-Stripe Pinktoe, Avicularia minatrix, and Brazilian Black Grammostola pulchra. Need to save up some more cash and find someone (hopefully Botar) that has the G. pulchra available.

Anyway, here's how everyone looks from afar set up in their new homes.

Thanks again for looking, and I can't wait to update the pics as these T's grow and mature!

welcome to the boards! it looks like you have some pretty nice spiders :D you might want to add some more substrate for your smithi though...if it climbs up the glass or onto the lid, it could fall and rupture its abdomen. not guaranteed, but possible. are those snakes below the tarantulas?? if so, what kind?

Thanks, I like them!

Those are snakes. I breed corn snakes as a hobby, and was actually directed here to this site by a friend from another forum I tend to hang out at.

they look great. might want to add more substrate to the cobalt, too. they like at least 5-6" to burrow in.

That looks a lot like a Nhandu species to me. What are the specific differences between these Genus's (sorry if that's spelt incorrect)?

Thanks for the positive comments.

White I appreciate the other comments, unfortunately I was looking to share my pictures, not asking for husbandry information/corrections. I'm not going to start a great debate so don't hijack my pic thread with it. :) Feel free to PM me if you have a problem with that.

That would be a question for somebody else. I'm pretty sure it's an A. geniculata unless you're saying Botar doesn't know what he's selling? I agree that they look like quite few other species as during my research, there were about 3 or 4 that looked similar. Picked this species for its size and temperament.

Nice Collection Drizzt. I too have gotten most of my collection from B. The A. Geni looks just like my daughters and might be a sibling to yours. Thanks for sharing. I have two B. pulchra slings and they are great. One (probably a faster growing male) is finally getting some of that blue black oily sheen to it. Keep it on your list. They are worth it.

I'm assuming you mean G. pulchra here (?) as B. pulchra would be either a betta or a flower? :)

Thanks for the personal experience on the G. pulchra. I just have to find one reasonably priced! :)

I think I may have added an A. versicolor to my list as well. Dang, I thought corn snakes were bad . . .
