Nice. I love Dolomedes species. I found several triton so far this year, if only I had the room to expand my true spiders.................

he was found on the edge of a lake hiding on a log that was kinda floating on the edge of the water.gonna see if i can locate any females or more dolomedes at this location.thanks for checking guys

You may want to try at night if you haven't already. The Dolomedes species here are only active at night. A headlamp or flashlight illuminates their eyes and makes finding them very easy (if they are there).

well i went back to the lake today and found quite a few of these species again.i was really surprised how small the females are in comparison to the males. the spider pictured in earlier post was at least double the size of other females i saw.heres some pictures

notice re-generation of leg IV.she must of lost it somewhere down the line.
last we have a female carrying an eggsac.she was found hunting in the water among the plants and lily pads.i was under the impression these built a nursery type web and didnt carry there sacs like this.she was quite small aswell.

I don't think the female is a Dolomedes at all ;)
The eyes are more wolf spider-like.

The spider looks a lot like Pirata piraticus. Maybe she lost her leg in a battle? Arrr :evil:
