ok and here are a few more.

Anahita punctulata, the only native Ctenid in KY.

the next ones are of a Peckhamia species that I found this winter. They are awesome little ant mimics.

Thats it for now. Take care everyone.

Thanks for the complements you guys 8). I'm really hoping that the Dolomedes will drop an eggsac. I would love to raise some. All of the spiders except the dolomedes were captured and photographed in the winter and early spring. It made taking pictures of them a lot easier since they weren't too active.

Beautiful pictures! Where did you get the magnificent boxes where you keep your spiders in?

D.tenebrossus juvies

Some more pics to enjoy. I am 90% sure these are tenebrossus. they are pretty small to tell for sure. The first 2 are of one that I have had about 2 months now. It is growing really fast. Right now it is taking a lot of Pirata wolf spiders, mealworms, and fruit flies. The third pic is just a pic of the enclosure that it lives in. the fourth pic is a new one that I found just yesterday at work. I found him in the red wolf den at work so he has been dubbed "Lobo". :) He is maybe 1cm long.
peace,

Bobby

Well the one from the first two pics of my last thread molted and it turned out to be a male. And a small one at that.

I found him at the nature center where I used to work in Kentucky. They were all over the place out there.

Molting pics...

Well, he's all grown up now. It was the first time that I actually sat and watched the whole process from start to finish. Very interesting the way the carapace just popped back. Looked terribly uncomfortable. Anyways, enjoy the pics of Legs.

Hi Bobby,

once again, very nice pics!

I like especially the last one, as it gives a good of the size of the spider. Is that male a "standard" size for this species or is he rather small?

I thought the Dolomedes to be a tad bigger, but this can be due to some weird angles with other photos...

Really wonderful pics of that molt! Congrats...keep 'em coming.

It's so amazing to me how flexible the exoskeleton is before it hardens up.

Stefan, This male is actually on the larger end of the scale. The males in D.tenebrossus are much smaller than the females. According to "how to know the spiders" by Kaston The females range from 15mm to 26mm while the males only range from 7mm to 13mm. The other species of Dolomedes all have larger sized males. So, the female from the beginning of the thread really would have been a giant compared to this guy. :)

here is a good look at his size.

peace,

Bobby
