Out of 26 T's, only 6 have names. They're all labeled with scientific names and ID #'s. I'm kind of anal about keeping track of molts, so that helps. Especially with the 15 parahybanas!

Out of the ones with names:

3.5" L. parahybana - "Pinkie" because when I got her at 1.5" her abdomen was bald and I thought she looked like a pinkie mouse!

H. lividum - "Cerulean" A shade of blue

My smallest A. avic is "Sprite"

Adult G. rosea - "Micky" (My brother was drunk on Michelob when his friend gave her to him.....when he sobered up he gave her to me).

Juvenile G. rosea - "Little Girl" My 2nd T, and I used her name to distinguish her from "Mickey"

P. murinus - "Autumn" because her color reminds me of the trees in the fall.

I name all of my pets including my breeder rats :)! My T's of course have their names:

Mexican red knee: Charlotte Actually my mom named her. I was talking to her on the phone right after I got her and told her that I hadn't found a name yet. She thought of Charlotte from Charlotte's Web and I loved it.

Cobalt blue: Kitana (Can anyone figure out where I got it from???)

I'm getting a t. blondi next week and depending on the sex I've chosen "Lulubelle" or "Tonka"!!! :D

depends

I used to name them when I was new at keeping T's and scorps, but like some of the other keepers here, a time came when I had too many to keep track of names and gave trying to name the newest ones coming in to the collection.

I only have 5 T's right now, and no scorps at present, but have never gotten around to giving names much thought. From time to time I will name something when there is a significant reason to do it, like if a new specimen has a peculiar habbit or visible characteristic that makes a name just pop to mind, or if I get more than one of a species and want to be able to reffer to them individually (By means other than "the big one", "the small one", "the male", etc...). Generally speaking I don't tend to keep more than one of any species, so reffering to each is easier just by species name.

well...I don't really name them, except for some, but Shelby sure does a good job of naming them...I know alot of you are familiar with her penchant for making up unpronouncable and un-spellable names LOL!
A few examples for the newbies:

Quishyfuschia (this happens to be a male that is going out on a breeding loan!)

Killer Cheeto (traded to Vayu Son)
Stinky Funeral (and we had one, when this vinegaroon died!)
Cadashio (our dashing C fasciatum, that Gary's female ate!)
Morax
Seculada
Zia (also a male A seemanni)
Aloura (a mature male GBB...oops!!!!)
A Tarantula Called Wanda
Pancake
Aleukatin (another male...munched)
Mrs Fuklabooshay
Kalachay

well, you get the picture!

I label the enclosure with the "Common Name" and the scientific name. My little 6 year old girl names some of my T's.
