This is going to sound odd... I was checking on my small discoid colony and went to pick up a mid sized nymph with my tongs. I suddenly got a whiff of a blast of yucky air a "fart" as it were...
Kinda like a stink bug but not as noxious:?
So I sniffed the container... I know BLEH.. but mine don't smell.
I then tried to pick up an adult and caught whiff of the same odor as I picked it up.
So do discoids and other roaches have a stink bug type of defense?

How does this impact your feeding non prekilled to a roach?
And is this possibly why my skink won't touch them with a ten foot skink prod!?:p

Blaberus do have an odor defense of sorts. None of my animals have ever really had a problem with them.

Mostly, it's the spines on their legs that are the big problem for me. Well...it's relative, but still.
