Last night I found my adult female B.smithi going a bit mental in her tank, wall climbing and poking her legs through the ventilation holes in the lid.. I'm not sure why, although she's very sexually "ready" at the moment, often drumming at her cave entrance when I approach. She was quite responsive to my presence and would tap and fidget if I moved. At one point she seemed to be making noises too. It was hard to tell in the semi darkness if she was rubbing against the plastic lid or somehow making these little "barking" noises with her abdomen. It sounded a little like a tiny dog's cough, as best I can describe it.

So, can B.smithi make noises? Is this stidulation (sp) or am I smoking too much before bed?

Smithi's don't stridulate so either you were picking up some faint noise it was causing my moving about or you are smoking too much :)
