Hey All,

Got the scorps today. They're waiting for me to get home to set them up. Now, as to how I'm going to set them up. Went to the petstore and picked up some gravel and some nice black sand (I like black) What I was thinking from what I've read here and what I've read in Manny Rubio's book, I was thinking of the following setup.

Thin layer of gravel on the bottom of the enclosure
75% Sand
25% Peat
Straws in the corners going down to the gravel layer to moisturize the sand/peat from below.
Couple of pieces of corkbark for hides
Small water dish
Piece of slate for spermatophore placement.

How's that sound?

Also, I currently have my S. maurus in a deli dish on bed a beast and it seems to be doing fine. Should I leave well enough alone, or set it up as stated above?

Thanks In Advance,

Scott

Scott,

Sounds fine, if a little elaborate. ;)

As for the S.maurus, it is up to you. If you think he has enough room and everything he needs then just leave him -- unless you want something more visualy pleasing, in which case go for it. Most of the details of scorpion setups are for our enjoyment (like your black sand, for example).

Cheers,
Dave
