Hi folks.

I posted this to reddit with little help and so I'm hoping this community is a bit more knowledgeable.

I purchased a dwarf wood spider literally less than 20hrs ago and within 10hrs of having her, she went limp.

I did have to move her around to get her new enclosure set up and whatnot, as well as tried to entice her with some prey (she did take a cricket but let go in the moving process). I'm wondering if she's playing dead although there was no movement overnight. If she's dead, I might ask the seller for a refund or a replacement, idk.

I have tried poking, prodding, flipping over, blowing on her, etc. Nothing has worked ):

Regardless, any help is welcome.

This species does play dead when threatened, but if it was still in the same position the next day, I'm afraid she's not pretending :(

And yeah, I feel like a lot of reddit advice is not actually that good.

What would have killed her? ):

Since it was such a short time after obtaining her, I'd say the stress of moving. However, she might have had some underlying condition, because a healthy scorpion should usually be able to handle this amount of stress.

I agree that stress was the noticeable catalyst but an underlying condition that the stress exacerbated is the likely cause.

Hopefully the next one you order comes through okay.
