I have a large hermit crab that died last night; can I feed it to my isopods and springtails? I'm assuming the odor could be an issue, so maybe bury it in their substrate? I have P. scaber and A. maculatum. Maybe break it into pieces, freeze it, and feed only a piece of it to them at a time? I just really don’t want to waste a food source my other inverts could use.

I do not. Hmmm I hadn’t thought of that. If they died of some sort of ailment or parasite, that could be passed on to the isopods.

It feels sort of funny to suggest, but cooking the crab would probably make it safe for consumption by the isopods.

That’s a good idea. I may just do that for the next one, as I already disposed of the dearly departed herm.
