Ok; my cat, a 3 month old kitten, has a true fascination with my spiders, I even put them on the top shelf in a bedroom closet, and she climbs the door by the hinges, she has no fear of a squirt bottle, so I can't train her that way. Can anyone help me out? She knock over two deli containers last night and I'm worried about her a) stressing the t's. B) killing them via stress or fall C) getting one of the cages open and getting bit. I don't want to put down flypaper or anything, cause that would suck to get stray crickets off.
Help?

Keep the cat out of your T room?
LOL. That would be the obvious choice! Or keep the T's in a different room. No offense too the op, but seriously, why do people ask such obvious questions? Is it REALLY that hard to figure out a solution that you need expert advise? Really? I mean come on now! Why did you really start this thread? You can't be THAT "blond" (and yes that was an attempt of a nice way of saying something else). So what's the honest reason too start this? Did someone put you up too it? A late April Fools joke? Not that we already got that. Seriously, I don't want to be overly blunt, but you really should be able too figure this one out on your own!!!

Way to go mr constructive.

to the OP, if you remove the items which allow the cat to reach the T boxes, that should suffice surely. Alternatively, as the above has suggested, keep them somewhere where the cat is not allowed.

Was this response really necessary? Check your use of "too" before insulting anyone

For the slings it might be a good idea to get a larger aquarium and put them in that so to keep the cat from disturbin their enclosures. As for the larger ones I'm sure its more of a worry of the cqat opening their cages, the only thing to really suggest is to make sure each case is completely sealed/locked in a cat proof way, but this all depends on a case to case basis of your enclosures on what would work best

Ok, other than the obvious, which I'm in the process of, I'm thinking people got confused by my question, how do I get the cat to leave them alone, other than the obvious.

@tym hollerup, thx for making this place less hospitable. Why not head bak to 4chan for your trolling pleasure.

Orange scented products.

If you can't keep cats out of T's room,

Try orange scented products. Cat hate that smell.

If you are worried about chemicals, lay out some actual oranges!

Put them in a cat proof aquarium. You will need to strap it to the shelf so the cat cant knock it off the shelf. I have a book shelf with plexiglass over the front. I use this as a heated cabnet but it also keeps my dog from poking her nose inside.

My cat does not come into my room since i gave him a toss out the door and a very loud yelling when i caught him stalking over my bearded dragons cage. He still loves me but fears entering my room.

No, i didnt hurt him and he still hangs out with me.. Just not in my room. {D He is mostly an outdoor cat to begin with.

Cats hate the feel of tinfoil on their paws lay some down and a few days/weeks it should learn to stay away from the area

Cats will be cats. I gave up my first tarantulas 30 some years ago when I found out cats and Ts don't mix. (The cats were there first...) Unfortunately, I don't think there is a foolproof method short of a solid door to keep kitty from trying to investigate.

I like Agent's suggestion of a plexiglass covered bookcase. Then the cat could just be shut out of the room when you're dealing with the Ts. Or even a plexiglass door on the closet. (Hmmm, wheels turning... thinking of some T modifications in my own home...)

Also, most kittens become fat, lazy cats eventually... :)

OT: Tym, so sorry someone peed in your Cheerios this morning...

Your cats are broken return them to cat dealer near you!
{D
Most of my cats loved tinfoil, cellophane, wrapping paper, etc. Anything that made noise. About the time you think you know how a cat (or any animal, two-legged included) is going to behave, it does something different. :)

Our cats will avoid tape that is laid out sticky side up around plants, at least for awhile...

Yeah. It was a very bad time for me too be on here posting. I just ran into my ex and... I REALLY should have stayed away from anyone and everyone!!! My apologies to the OP and anyone else I offended. She shouldn't affect me so much, but she does. And she knows that!

Hey man been there done that! Boys get mad, men get even.
My advice, think of something diabolical that is symbolic of how much your ex hurt you, get payback, get closure, and move on.

If only it was that easy for me. :( I've been going through this pain for over 2 years now! It just came back over the past week though due to my running into her and her new boyfriend. What a douche he is! She was my dream girl! She wasn't a model, She wasn't a 10! She was her. She was my perfect angel. But this isn't the time or place to discuss past love lost. It's about the Tarantulas. I suggest getting a separate T room if you can. I love cats too and (although I don't have any) I understand you wanting the kitten in your room. Is there anywhere else you can relocate the spiders? What species do you have again?
