Just found some pics of a pretty Cross Orb Weaver (Araneus diadematus) that set up shop outside my front door at the end of last summer. She stayed around till just before Halloween, hanging out between my century plant and the porch light (lots of tasty bugs there!). I hope I get another one this year. It was fascinating to watch her build her web every day, and amazing that a web you could hardly see would hold such a heavy spider.
