Found this ad in the Raleigh,NC pets section. All I can say is "Really" And this is the exact add I dhave not altered it.

"Year old taranchilla brown body with pink stripes on her back...

Just need to get rid fo her not asking much just 75$. This may be negotionable just email me and we can communicate further

This taranchilla is not yet defanged"

So I asked him for pics cause I wanna see what a tarantula crossed with a chinchilla looks like. Cause that is the only think I can think of a taranchilla being. lol

wow the stupidity of this person is frightening. I would have asked he/she to explain the spider defanging process along with pics of his/her chinchilla rose hair bird eating leggy thing.

---------- Post added at 08:04 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:55 AM ----------

I would imagine the defanging process going as so: 1. reach down open hand grab the tarantula. 2. screem in agony as tarantula clamps down puncturing skin and tissue with its bite. 3. jerk hand away in shock so fast you leave chelicera and fangs still intact. 5. rush to hospital looking like a moron as you explain to doctor how man eating Goliath spider from hell attacked you while you were attempting to defang it.

Another thing that has me stumped is the fact that this person doesn't know the species of tarantula he/she has yet can determine the sex of it as being female? Im gonna go out on a lim here and assume this taranula was either recently acquired by this person or was passed down to them at some point.

Not a chinchilla/tarantula hybrid.

Just say 'tarantula' in your head in a southern accent.
...
There it is!:)
He's probably just trying to spell it phonetically.

The defanged thing is just daffed though. I don't see how anyone who owns a tarantula can still think that's possible.

Oops, read it as devenomed.:8o

All these things are starting to run together; had a bunch of people over yesterday and it was an endless barrage of "Do you keep them all in the same cage?" "Are they tame?" "Do they bite?" and of course, "Are their fangs/poison sacs removed?"

This guy would've fit right in.

Maybe, "definitely"?

Wouldn't someone having been told that defanging a spider is both dangerous and absurd and yet still finding a solution to this risk by collecting the molted fangs, still be considered an act of defiant possibility?

My favourite are all the purebread dogs out there...

I always want to ask if they're whole wheat or enriched white...

Well there was an expo last weekend.

Still waiting on a reply from this guy. Not really expecting to get one though.

Well, no. I saw that, too... 'Figgered' I'd best stop whilst I was ahead. {D

On a more serious note, I think there are many people out there with IGS (Instant Gratification Syndrome). They see, they want, they buy, without any research into what they may be getting. Some, perhaps, with the notion that they can 'get rich' re-selling on Craig's List, etc. Ultimately, it is the animal that suffers.

Please bear in mind when you guys say how absurd it may be for someone defanging a tarantula that in America it is legal to de-claw a cat and remove venom sacks from snakes. Why? I have no idea, and you can't do this in the UK. Maybe that's why so many people ask?

Personally I think it's just a common misconception that because snakes venom sacks are able to be removed (I think) without any complications, then it'd be the same for spiders.
