Hi,
Selenotypus plumipes.
I've posted before about these, but I really have to say, that with all the beautiful tarantulas in the world there are, lots of amazing and stunning colours, if I honestly had the option, I would choose to keep this species over any other in the world. You might think I'm a bit nuts, but for me there just something about this particular species, they get big, huge in fact, like some of the Hysto's, but with the hairy red back legs and kind of velvety sheen (including velvet black abdomen) and attitude, I would not ever wish to part with above all, this species. Maybe it's blind acceptance that I can't keep the overseas ones anyway, LOL, but I've seen them live, I have hundreds of exuvia (including the best of them, like P.metallica, X.monstrosa (yes, probably the real one), so I see the allure for sure), so I know these others, beautiful for sure and I honestly envy you all for your options to keep so many different spiders.
I would not swap the option to lose these guys for any amount of your colourful ones, in case you didn't guess, I LOVE THIS SPECIES:
Selenotypus plumipes (the only real theraphosid I know of with documented cases of actually catching, killing and eating guinea fowl chicks from local farms):
Handling a young adult (no, I would not touch a big female):
