Question- Does this new forum version have a BRIGHTER color palette? I like to color my replies at times, keeps things fun.

The last version had nice bright colors, and MORE choices.... This one, the colors are more muted and less colors...What happened?

I also noticed almost all the familiar emoticons are gone :sorry:

Are you talking about colors for text in replies? You should be able to put in the hex code for just about any color.

Very few emoticons are outright "gone". Many have been upgraded to higher quality versions and some of the others have been merged.

1. Highlight the text
2. Go here (or several hundred other web sites) and select the hex code of color you want. 3. Click the color droplet at the top of the text box. At the bottom of the window that opens type in or cut and paste the desired color code.

65 102 116 101 114 32 121 111 117 32 104 97 118 101 32 100 114 105 118 101 110 32 121 111 117 114 115 101 108 102 32 97 110 100 32 101 118 101 114 121 111 110 101 32 101 108 115 101 32 111 110 32 116 104 101 32 98 111 97 114 100 32 98 108 105 110 100 32 121 111 117 32 99 97 110 32 100 111 32 115 111 109 101 32 111 116 104 101 114 32 119 101 105 114 100 32 116 104 105 110 103 115 32 116 111 32 100 114 105 118 101 32 112 101 111 112 108 101 32 99 114 97 122 121 32 105 102 32 121 111 117 32 119 97 110 116 46

I liked the emoticons we had before, that's OK.

Ah for colors, yeah there used to be more squares to choose from in the drop down

I didn't notice the Hex

testing hex codes, never used them This is supposed to be a purple blue...It worked...it would be easier if there more colors in the drop down, that's all I meant.

It's basically all about the engine and the program - and programming language. A graphics art program has powerful subroutine to give a true color palette. With PHP ZenForo is written in, a full color palette would be huge and could easily cause lag and other problems. So they gave a what appears to be the native Windows very simplified 20 color palette plus some stuff I don't recognize. Maybe an ANSI scale?
If more is desired the program allows you to enter the hex code instead of a massive subroutine doing the leg work for you. The hex code is probably native to the OS the server is running on or a subroutine available to all programs. The old 'never reinvent the wheel'.
