color changed

I have a Rio Grande Gold and this is its first molt in my care, it's about three inches and after its molt, it came out black, not the orange-ish, red color that it was, is this normal?:?

mebebraz, I don't know about That species in particular but I know that after molt colors can be shockingly different then a T's "normal" colors.

I think she should "tan" out after she's had time to harden up.
Prolly shifting back to her "normal" range over a few days or weeks.

I THINK so anyway.

Is it possibly a male Aphonopelma? Are the males of this species black? I've read other comments elsewhere about many Aphonopelma species males being black in coloration.

Just figured I would throw in a thought. I've heard of this before with the Rio Grande Gold.

Yes males of this species are almost entierly all black, I think it is just the look of the new skin and signs of maturity. That is all.
