I've never been able to find pesticide and fertilizer free peat, so cocobark is all I use.

peat has more of a potential of molding and propagating fungi and has a much larger amount of nitrogen than the coconut fibers. like said before; it's hard to find peat or potting soil that is chemical free due to there intended usage.

I use coco fibre subs...that eco earth stuff, its condensed so when you put it in water..it expands ALOT. I bought 3 blocks for 16$ and all 3 blocks gave me WAY to much subs...I dunno what to do with it all...I have what I didnt use on all my enclosures stored in a big blue tupperware storage box.

I've used both. I prefer the coco fibre over peat. It is very resistant to molding and doesn't seem as powdery when dry. Just my preference.
