This is a pairing between one of my 2 mature male Haplopelma lividum and one of my 4 adult females. This girl just dropped an egg sac last Saturday. 2 other cobalts look as though they are close to dropping egg sacs as well. Here's hoping. Anyway, enjoy.

In the last six months they've been some of the best breeders for me. The male has been so bold as to go down into the female's burrow shaking the whole time. The two would reappear a few moments later to "do the deed" outside the burrow. The females were always very gentle and the males never ran once finished. In a couple cases, the males would finish and enter the back entrance to her burrow while she went down into the main entrance. I'd have to leave them together for days and they'd both sit there. He'd even spin a sperm web and "recharge" while in her enclosure. They've been much easier to work with than the P. fasciata (already lost 1 male), P. striata (she keeps trying to eat the males), and T. blondi (6 females that completely change their reactions to the males every time they meet them). On a positive side note, I just candled another one of the 4 H. lividum girls and she's full of eggs. Hopefully get at least 2 sacs from these girls.

So far so good.

Here are the eggs from the female in the video. There was a fungus that was growing in the cage, so I pulled the eggs at around 10 days. We'll see what happens.
