Recently here in the uk the binmen have been on strike, now they have started collecting properly again I decided to move the binbag from next to the door into the bin and found a little sac spider in her web on the bag but she had ewl . I didn't want her to go in the bin truck so I very carefully cut around where her and her baby's were and have put them in a pot on my bench bin bag patch n all, she's already started webbing shut again but I was curious if anyone has kept these before?
Is there any info I need to help her successfully?
Will she eat while she's got baby's?
What I read says she needs humidity will they be OK on the bit of binbag she's webbed to or should I put some moss for humidity in with them?
If anyone can help I would be grateful thanks.
Not the best pic coz she's only 1cm dls but mum n baby's on their binbag 😆 20240803_144613.jpg

I don't think you need to bother feeding her. My understanding is that they spend their time closed up in the web with the sac and don't come out again until the babies are ready to emerge with her. I could be wrong, though. I would say a light misting a couple times a week until she and the babies start moving around is all you need to do. Once they're mobile, some fruit flies to eat should cover them until you release them.

Good luck with them!

Well this little lady and her baby's now live with my t's on my t bench, with the cellar spider that gave me babys yesterday too 😆.... at least I know where they are now 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣
(Don't worry their pots are sealed there will be no escapes my t's are safe for anyone worried)
I will release mums and babys once they are ready to take on the world 😊 the cellars will be released upstairs in the cubby n the sac spider will go out back into my mini nature reserve 🙂 hopefully they will be ok there seen as that's where the bag I found them on was.
Interesting looking little things, from what I read they like grassy wetland so I plan on releasing them near my pond it's always boggy there and the area around my pond is like a fallow field so hopefully perfect for them 🤞.

the celler spiders were already here but I’ve seen other spiders wander in the basement..
Nice, taking care of those spiders is probably fun you need lots of flies?

Spiders are good help keep the nasties out of your vivs, I have a few cellar spoods and Tetchy living free roam in the room my t's are in. Steatoda too its impossibleto keep them out the room, they don't bother my t's at all though , I never get the little flys in my vivs either pretty sure it's coz they can't get past spider security 😆

Yes I do I use alot of fruit walks, I breed them or try too I am not good with time so I often have to buy in extra because I messed the timings up but I keep a few true spiders , Phidippus morpheus n ardens, Tegenaria , Segestria, Pholcidae and now Clubiona too so I have a few that will eat them . Plus a tiny E. campestratus that's about 3mm big that will happily take them too although I prefer to give her the baby mealworms I breed instead. Better nutritional value.
Makes sense to try and breed your own food though when you have 100+ spiders 😆 (probably closer to 150 now I have mommas with babys)

yes the spiders save the day I don’t ever want phorid flies to come back.
Yeah I understand I used to have 70+ I do breed mealworms despite only having 4 slings and one juvy . Not sure how long til I get swamped in them . Probably got a few 100 not enough to sell any.

They will come in handy won't be long till more t's turn up, will see atleast 1 that you can't say no too 😉

Little update the baby's seem to be spreading out they look really good but unfortunately momma is looking rough she's rapidly loosing weight and her abdomen looks a little wrinkled so today I am going to put some moss in with them under the plastic so it keeps a more constant humidity and hopefully she will pick up. I have also left her a prekilled mini mealworm at the edge of her web just incase, there seems to be web lines nowhere near the baby's so assuming she's been hunting. 🤞 this will help too.

Pic of momma n baby's again not great as they are tiny but still so cute.

A little update.
All the ewl turned into little spiders yesterday morning 😊 mum also came out for food but the baby's didn't follow. But this morning mum was in her web again and all the baby's were on the lid of the tub 😆 I didn't get any pics it was more important to me they could leave so I took them outside took the lid off and released them in the long grass next to my pond. I have tucked the viv into the gass lid off on its side so it won't fall over or get rained in (uk 🤷🏻‍♀️) and them and mum can leave and live as nature intended.
Gl little ones and thanks everyone for your help.
