This is the CITES paper that you, in Italy, need to have if you keep a CITES protected animal, no matter if a genus Brachypelma, a Pandinus imperator, or what else under the Washington Convention.

Therefore, without one (in the case of a inspection) you will considered a protected animal smuggler, period, and end in troubles.

The situation involving arachnids here in Italy is (well, seems) a bit better now than after 2003, and I recently bought a B.smithi sling.

Now... B.smithi and such, :banghead: those aren't exactly the Theraphosidae I'd love to own, go figure buy, but couldn't say a "no" to Italian recent breedings. No chance. The hobby in the boot needs total support, without questions.

This is the CITES paper of that bugger:

Of course the black lines are for privacy ;)

- detail, with the important part on the right, the C.F.S (in this case Roma one) approval:

How much does it cost you to obtain it? Do you have to apply for each individual, or can you have several on the same form and only pay once for all of them?

Well, things are better than the "witch hunt" of 2003, no doubts, and this thanks to the Italian Arachnids Community only, an ancient one that follows the road traced once by Giacomo Doria, one of Tamerlan Thorell friends, when Italy was a Reign, and not a silly stupid "banana" Republic like today.

But still it's not a full victory for me. Dumb, ignorant people, with too much power in their hands, make dumb, stupid laws, based on nothing.
No scientific data... nothing of that. Therefore, those type of laws made by ignorance, fear, and "speed" fails hard in the long run if someone fight back hard, because they were/are made of "nothing" and nothing alone at the end.

Think, you can't state something like that, something like: "every Arachnid is able, with their bite or the sting, to invalidate someone for life, or to kill someone" muahahahahahahah including a silly, boring, lovely genus Grammostola one  and pretend to gain reason.

Still today the Ban of 2003 technically is "in", as well for the list of really "hot" (btw we, in Italy, for "hot" doesn't consider P.murinus nor S.calceatum, but Atrax robustus and such) made by the community. There's fairs and expo, nice ones, maybe not big like Marbach but oh well. And today people started breeding again... sadly, thanks to the Ban fear, it's a sort of "anno zero" and, from 'Baboons', 'Pokies' and such, the step is to start from the pet rocks and 'Avics' but with faith and time... uhm

You mean for the customer (example: "you" buying a CITES protected one, no matter which) or for the breeder/seller? :)

Absolutely free for the customer; "you" pay only for your pet, no matter the number purchased, and (where there's those black lines in the picture above) the breeder/seller enter your name/surname/address/city etc and your (and breeder/seller) signature.

The breeder/seller needs to call the C.S.F if he/she wants/plan to breed CITES protected ones for sell/trade those, and they provide him/her everything (assuming everything turns out fine, of course, "egg sack" talking) needed, with their approval. It's a bureaucrecy only matter.

But you are 100% sure to have 100% CB animals, and not WC ones. The future is CB, IMO we can't pretend to pillage the wild forever or maybe sell gravid WC female babies (I'm watching you, Germany) ;)

In Germany you need a document about the origin of the animal when it comes to protected stuff like Brachypelma. It's usually no problem because you get it from the breeder so you don't have to apply or pay for anything.
