Chinese mantid ooths hatching in central NC

Awesome pics! What kind of camera did you use? I've temp jumped on the mantid wagon too. I found an ooth last year and I decided to keep 17 of the babies that just hatched. You going to let them go? This ooth is huge so I'm going to try to keep some to adults to see how they look.

Camera is a Canon SI5. It is not a SLR, but allows one to shoot aperture priority, manual, etc.

Saw your post on the mantids you found. Do you have a picture of the ooth? Chinese ooths are round whereas Stagmomantis ooths are like a half-cylinder.

I'm not keeping any of these. I had kept several species of mantids in the past. Liked raising & breeding them and taking photos of them, but got tired of the care requirements.

Mantidforum.com is a good source of info and a good place to pick up various species via classifieds. Be careful tho, you may get hooked on mantids :)
