Can anyone tell me what particular species this is? These pics were taken on a camera phone so please excuse the less than spectacular quality.

Where is it from? Looks more like a scolopendra subspinipes dehaani, but to be sure we need...you'll know :)

...and judging by yellow legs? Should i tell you how many pedes have yellow legs? :D

I got it at a reptile show where it was sold to me as a "Vietnamese Centipede", no scientific name was given at all. My guess would be some kind of S. subspinipes but I really have no clue. I'm pretty sure it's not a S.s.mutilans but I certainly could be mistaken about that.

Ok,

then it must be a dark form of Scolopendra subspinipes dehaani (coloration "Mai Chau").

HUH? Last time i knew it was impossible to tell by coloration alone, and the pictures are way too dark to tell anything from anyways. Take some better clearer pictures with more light of the head, body, etc and then hopefully someone on here might be able to give you something more than a wild guess.

Cheers

@Jadespider:

When you have worked with centipedes and helped perpetuate some into the hobby, you get a certain knowledge that lets you ID them based on coloration. There are certain species that are harder than others like the South American pedes but subspinipes are easier to ID, which subspecies it is is another matter.

like some (one?) very famous myriapodologist say, that every unclear species from south america is a gigantea, you can also say, every unclear species from asia is a subspinipes... ;P
