For geographical reference I am located in Southwestern Indiana, Gibson County, USA.

I found these a few weeks ago out under an old log behind our garage. It's shady and moist back there and there were several of these such centipedes.

They seem to be very common around my home, as we're nestled into the woods and there's lots of shade and moisture for them to habitate in. So I'm not too concerned about their presence, I'm just more or less curious as to what their common name and genus/species is.

Attempts to identify them online came up with zilch for the most part. I did find the name Lithobius forficatus, and while it looks similar from the pictures I could locate, apparently that is a European species.

I've never seen any that were larger than these, so I'm guessing them to be adult or near adult specimens.

I've showed this picture before, but its the same species of pede only with eggs. It shows a better close-up of the critters.
