Does anyone know of or have experience with species of Carabids that do well in captivity? I’ve always loved the colors of Calosoma scrutator for instance, and their predatory is another thing that really draws me to them. I assume the process of breeding them and raising larvae is quite different from other beetles, but I’m curious as to whether or not people have tried to establish some of the prettier ones in captivity and how well they do in terms of life span and breeding.

Larvae are usually a big pain to rear and sometimes need diapauses to do so if they're from the north, generally they are picky about their substrates and sometimes picky about their food, and have abysmally low survival rates if things aren't perfect. The only Carabid larva I ever raised from egg to adult was a Pasimachus, which is cool and all, but adults require seasonal cues to lay and only lay 2-3 GIANT eggs a year, (literally the eggs looked too big to have come from my females).
