Hi there, I got this scorp about 6 months ago now and the shop sold it to me as a "mat black scorpion". Not knowing the Latin is starting to bug me so I'm hoping some of your expertise can help me out here. Thanks Brad :) 1572913873878398560370.jpg 15729139629731364777314.jpg 1572913773614552584356.jpg

I don't know. But they should have sold him as "Cute As A Bug In A Rug Scorpion"!

I'm dying over here! It's the adorablest, I just wanna pop him in my mouth and eat him up! <3

Agreed lol, if you zoom in you'll see he/she appears to wear little brown slippers

I think Chaerilus sp.

Chaerilus sp. Java is very similar.

An easy way to test is see if they fluoresce under UV - Chaerilus aren't supposed to (though some captive scorpions labelled as Chaerilus sp. Java do fluoresce)

Also probably matte black not mat black

Thanks very very much :) yeah I meant matte. I think you're bang on with sp. Java

Good god, I've seen glossy black on certain pandinus, heterometrus, and paraructonus sp. but never a velvety black...absolutely beautiful scorpion!
