the first five photos are of B. hamorii, two of the five photos is of her last molt. Photos 6 through 10 are of the B. smithi.

We’re focusing of the coloration of the trochanter of each species. So just like baumgarteni vs boehmei one is beige and the other is darker/black coloration.
Brachypelma smithi trochanter coloration is definitely a little darker than Brachypelma hamorii. However, the smithi dark coloration is not as dark as boehmei, boehmei has a black coloration on the trochanter. I say this so you guys don’t get confused that is as dark as boehmei or Brachypelma auratum for that matter. There is obviously a difference between the two species of hamorii and smithi.

By the way check out the spikes facing forward growing on the eye area of the smithi. That’s what it looks like to me anyways.

So this should help a bit to ID your specimen wether you think you have hamorii or smithi.

This is what I observed of their characteristics appearances between these two species. Also want to add that because that there several other variants of them I don’t know if the other variants will have the same type of coloration on the trochanter.
