With substrate or not? Temperature?I keep mine in a 27L sterilite, with a 4" metal screen vent at the top. Throw food in once every week, and they reproduce at an alarming rate. No pics, but it loks like a plastic box, 5 stacks of egg crate, and a couple thousand rochaes.
Thanks for feedback!I dont use substrate.
I dont think it really matters what you keep them in as long as you can put a climbing barrier (vaseline, roachstop) and a lid that lets air flow to keep down moisture build up.
I throw in egg cartons when Im done with them and they hide inside of it. Have a dish for wet food and cricket crystals for water.
I have noticed, the more places you have for them to hide the less they try to escape.
Temps- 85-90 if you want them to breed like crazy. Room temp if you want them to breed like crazy![]()
B. lats cannot climb glass.I dont like glass climbers. Too much potential for escapes.
Hmmm... I have put allover substrat, moist substrat and the humidity is very high and all my eggcrates are colapsing! I don`t have a big terarium, a bigger plastic box and all over the place are broken eggcrates...They do better at the higher temps. But they breed quite well at room temps too.
Yes, a moist place to put the eggcases is good. You can take eggcases out and put them in a container with moist substrate to hatch. I would keep a shallow dish with moist peat in to put the egg cases in. That way you can kind of keep the numbers down if you want. If your after an unimaginable number use substrate all over.
I got rid of all mine and went with Dubia. I dont like glass climbers. Too much potential for escapes.
Yes... you are right... some time ago I have found aprox 10 B lat in the house... maybe some of then can really climb...B. lats cannot climb glass.
Strange.. mine did. :? We are talking Turkistan Roaches? Granted they didnt see prone to climbing, but I found a few escapees, so I got rid of them. (and they were FAST! Spooky fastB. lats cannot climb glass.
