Blatta lateralis question

So I've had my B.lateralis "colony" for about a month or so now and I started seeing oothecas very quickly. I'm not sure how long it takes for the oothecas to hatch and the requirements for them to hatch. I've fed the roaches turtle food, crayfish food, fish food, lettuce, and apples so far. Kept at high-70's Fahrenheit. I normally feed off any old males whenever a new one pops up as I still have mostly large nymphs.

My colony is kept warm and moist. I don't remember exactly how long ooths take -- maybe a month. I have literally hundreds of ooths so no longer keep up with them. :(

I'm in the same situation with my colony. Hope to see a population explosion in a month or so.

Your temps sound good, really the most important thing for oothecae of this species is high humidity. :) With any luck you should have tons of them soon!

Can I feed baby carrots to lateralis? My mind is acting weird from lack of sleep (can't sleep rn either because I need to finish my homework) and for some reason I'm thinking that I read somewhere that baby carrots are bad for roaches or something. bleh :dead:

In my breeding bins I have them set up with stacked egg flats without substrate. The humidity from their food and the roaches themselves is enough for the ooth. I have my bins on full ventilation and fresh air. Ooths hatch in about 2 weeks.

I just checked him and he's all sold out :/
Well shoot. I'd send him an email and see when he thinks he'll have more in stock. It's sort of a rotating door with some of those species, out one week but back in stock the next.
