I caught a black widow on my back porch a few months ago.
Its pretty neat. I've never kept one before cause their everywhere.
Anyway this spider was missing a back leg. On the ground it doesn't do well walking around, but in its web, you'd never know the leg was missing.
It hasn't molted since I caged it. It eats well, and seems happy.
When should I expect a molt? And aprox. how many molts will it take to regrow the whole leg?

Thanks, Ernie

Latrodectus molt

Hi Ernie, Iv had Latrodectus hesperus regenerate a full leg within two molts.

Latrodectus molt

Latrodectus usually molt just a couple times a year.

If it is a mature widow spider, it may not molt again after maturity.
Blackwidows don't molt after sexual maturity. I think the black hole spider is the only true spider species capable of molting past sexual maturity (females only)
