Oh man... I'm from OR, just look any place dark, slightly damp, and seeing that's it's winter, someplace warm... Usually the crawl spaces under the house, especially near the fireplace, under the kitchen and possibly under the bathroom.

Hey I lived in Seaside before I moved to La. and right before I moved when I moved the freezer there were alot of them behind it. That was the first time I had ever seen them in Oregon. Look behind your fridge or freezer around the motor. Or even under it.

I grew-up in Salem and never recall seeing any Widows. There are plenty of Steatoda grossa to go around but I would bet that there are very few Widows to be found until you reach the east side of the Cascades.

Check under your house, not in it. Wood piles, sheds, barns are all good places as well. Sadly, I too have a dearth of Latrodectus in my area. I've lived here 8 years, and can only speak of seeing ONE L.variolus in all that time :( .

I've lived in Northern Oregon once, and I don't recall seeing nearly as many spiders, of any species, around. I grew up in Southern Oregon, and went out to the forests just about twice a week, and it never failed to have a spider sighting. I think it's more due to the slightly warmer and a bit drier climate.
