I have been under the impression that scorpions are –live birthing- as opposed to –egg laying-. This morning I found what looks to me like eggs, in the corner of my P. transvaalicus’ enclosure.

>some pix of the scorp -before what i found-, as wel as my findings and of the scorp now

Jeez man what the hell are you doing handling a P. trans? Thats probably the reason it had a premature birth. :wall:
Don't handle your scorpion, simple right?
You might still save the babies by putting them in a delicup with moist paper towels.

Try posting pictures that are in focus. Surely you can do that for us...

And I agree, why handle it? Get a dog or cat if you want something to pet.

I thought they needed nutrients to develop?

I heard there's two types of scorpion developments.

One connected to the moms to get nutrients and the other is not.

Eh..

Im not sure where the split is made. I honestly think it's too late to save them but it wouldn't hurt to try.

I have been under the impression that scorpions are –live birthing- as opposed to –egg laying-.

It depends on the species, but they have eggs inside their body, which will develop into young, which are born alive. Use Google and looking around using terms as ovoviviparous, viviparous, apoikogenic and katoikogenic (wouldn't be any fun now to explain everthing to you now would it :D )......
You can also read:
Reproduction in scorpions, with special reference to parthenogenesis

eggs. ive noticed this in a lot of desert species, usually the female will eat them. either way those are unfertilized eggs so no stress. just breed her again and keep her in ideal conditions and you will have a healthy brood next time :)

happens to all of us!

and yes ALL scorpions give live birth, their is a division amongst certain families of scorps as to how they develop inside of the mom but ALL of them come out as living scorps.

How do you know they are unfertilized? I've never figured that out.

Thought the same by whatching that picture. I do not even handle my scorps and they are chactidae species, harmless to humans from what I have read. I would not handle that one though nor any scorp as they get stressed out.

At least those eggs were not eatten by the mom. Mine were as I already told you in another post. Eventhough the babys that my scorpion was having looked like beans so they were more developed than this ones.
By the way, none of the premature babys survived to the hunger of theire mom.

What's to figure out Abyss? If they where fertilized they would have developed into an instar. Think of a chicken egg, if that would not be fertilized, momma can sit on it for ages, but it will stay an egg and it will never turn into a chick....

the reason why this happens sometimes, cannot always be pointed out.
