Better Sanitizer?

I've been using the "Jurrasic Clean" product to sanitize my reptile enclosures because my friend was able to get them for me for really cheap since he worked at the pet store but he no longer works there, so I need to find an alternative. Something less expensive and a little better.

What does everyone or anyone use to clean their reptile enclosures, ESPECIALLY after a big snake has soiled it's cage? Brand and type would be helpful.

Thanks a ton!

That's what I use. If the smell of vinegar lingers, just rewipe it with pure water. Heck vinegar solutions were what I used to sanitize my retainer per the dentist.

I also use vinegar; it has known antibacterial and antifungal properties, leaves a nice streak-free clean, is dirt cheap, and non-toxic. I wouldn't use it if I had to really thoroughly disinfect a cage (after say, a QT'd animal dies) but for day to day sanitation it is really tip-top.

Just to be clear, there's quite a difference between a "cleaner that's safe for reptiles" and a "sanitizer". I tend to believe that TRUE "sanitizing" is really overhyped. Reptiles make it just fine in nature without every microbe in their biosphere being eradicated. That being said, I wouldn't worry so much about "sanitizing" as "cleaning up"... do a full substrate change out every 6 to 12 months, you're golden. I've used Simple Green for years as well, on everything from mountain bike chains to reptile cages, it's really great stuff...

we use simple green or other similar products throughout our whole house, because its safe for the animals. I've also used vinegar to clean cages, with positive results. I just have a hard time getting the smell out of my skin, lol.

I always used anti bacterial dish washing soap. A few drops per 20 gallon. As Mr.I said, Most reptiles are fine with just a good clean cage. Whenever I did have a breakout I would clean with a bleach solution of 1 cup of bleach with one gallon of water. With most captive born you wont need that though.

To make it real easy, use newspaper as a substrate. Discard newspaper, clean with simple green, add reptile (snakes mostly). Voila. That's as simple as you can get. I like simple (especially if you have a large collection). {D
