In Europe we also keep them like this, clay as supstrate and a cork bark. Cross ventilation and not top one. This way no bacteria/fungus/etc can survive, because avics live very high in trees even as aSeems kinda unnecessary, I just put them straight into 32oz delis set up like below and overflow the water dish to moisten about 1/3 of the substrate as needed, never had any issues with keeping them alive.
