beetle ID

I found this picture on my phone it's taken last summer and maybe some of you can help me ID it.


I find lots of these guys in my house, I live in Eastern Europe - Romania, in summer (end of june - middle of august) i'm guessing that's when they emerge from pupae stage. They are a bit bigger then T. molitor and they rarely fly (i've seen some of them flying but usually I find them stuck in the bathtub or sinks) and are active mostly at night. I'm just curious where do they come from and whether they're pests.

Your beetle is a Ground Beetle - Carabidae. At a guess, Harpalus rufipes, but there may be other similar species in the Roumanian fauna.

so what are they doing in my house? i live on the second floor. Searching for humidity perhaps?
