Beetle ID?

I was up in Jamestown CA for some garlic soup at the Smoke Cafe (and their wonderful puffy chips), and walking along we saw a cute (unfortunately dead) little beetle. I don't know if it's native, I never saw one in all the time I lived in the area, but I'm sure there are several species I'd not gotten a chance to see Anybody recognize it?

these are known as "ten lined June beetles", Polyphylla decemlineata, pretty common in certain areas, hard to find in others, but native to California regardless.
